JV Harlem was trained and conditioned this year with Cathy Kolarsar. The
two of them hit the road competing in Competitive Trail. This was Harlem's first
year under saddle as a five year. He of course hit the ground running and
brought home 1st at his first ride, in the 25 mile Intermediate with a
perfect score. Cathy then decided that he was ready for 50 mile Opens. He
received three firsts and one second. At the rides he also brought home two
Reserve Champions overall and one Champion overall. Talk about good
for his first year out.
At this year's TRAC year end awards Cathy and JV Harlem won, Grand
Champion Open Heavy Weight Horse. The two of them also took the top
award of Grand Champion Horse of Alberta. You can't get better than
that. Cathy also received her 1000mile riders buckle this year. All of those
1000 mile where done in competing in Competitive Trail. Now that is a lot of
miles if you are asking me! You can expect to see JV Harlem and Cathy out on
the Trail in 2008.
