“Progeny”
allows you to view horses which were the results of breeding to Jay Vee
Ranch mares. We have also added “Horses of the Past” allowing you
(and us) to enjoy the stories and pictures sent to us by many of our
clients. If you are one of those - send us your story - send us
your pictures. Another new link is “Signature Horses” – those
special ones that went into the breeding program or the ones we simply
couldn’t let go. Take a look at JV Prince of Tides (Pete) or JV Pop’s
Rambler just to sample a few. Show results and different
divisions in the sale horses have been added. Take a look –
enjoy - talk to you soon.
The
training barn is full so again, do take a peek under “sale horses” to
see who’s new and how they are coming along. In looking at our
training program, just a few comments. In summary, it is defined
by a lengthy series of small steps, applied consistently, with the
objectives of producing calm, reliable mounts with a good work
ethic. Commencing at birth, the foal is imprinted to insure that
us humans are a part of the horse’s reality. Such reality has to
be built on trust and not on fear. Right from the beginning we
are proud to say that the Jay Vee Ranch horses are different. They are not
like horses raised elsewhere. During their formative years we
teach them to lead, trim, load and tie. This gives them a marked
advantage when they enter the training barn as long three year
olds. From there, a series of small steps keyed towards training
(not breaking) produces that “willing partner” that we in the horse world
seek. You know – the partner who looks forward to seeing you in
the morning and is disappointed when you leave at night.
Our training barn was full for the Winter of 2006/2007. In addition to some stallions and older show horses, we had 5 three
year olds in the barn - JV Price Of Fame, JV Boogie Nights, JV Last Chance,
JV She’s All That and JV Shadow’s Melody.
